Research/Teaching Interests

Dr. Schmidt specializes in the design of thermal systems for manufacturing, microwave processing of materials and application of industrial electrotechnologies. Dr. Schmidt is a faculty member of the Thermal/Fluid Systems program of the Mechanical Engineering Department. He has served on the College of Engineering faculty since 1970. He has four years of industrial experience, has published more than 75 articles and technical reports, and has authored two books. In 2004, Dr. Schmidt was named Associate Chair for Undergraduate Program Development. In this capacity, he has overall responsibility for planning, fundraising, financial management, and implementation of programs to develop excellence in our undergraduate education.
