ROSALIE FOSTER
ME STAFF EXCELLENCE AWARD RECIPIENT, 2006
|
|
The 2006 Departmental Staff Excellence Award was presented to
Rosalie Foster. Ms. Foster works with students and faculty in the Thermal/Fluids Systems Area. In addition
to supporting 20 faculty members and their students, she is also the coordinator of the annual Solid Freeform
Fabrication Symposium.

|
Dr. Janet Ellzey nominated Rosalie because of her commitment to excellence, her initiative in helping the TFS faculty,
her improvement of such work processes as appointments and recruiting visits, her constant attention to detail while remaining
calm in stressful situations, and her dedication to the TFS Area.

|
"Besides being exceptionally skillful and motivated, she creates a pleasant work atmosphere," said
Dr. Adela Ben-Yakar in her nomination letter. "She has a good sense of humor and a very positive attitude... Her excellence
is a result of her smart and knowledgeable approach to problem solving applied to the many duties concerning the
University and Engineering College system."

|
Dr. Robert Moser said in his letter of support, "Rosalie handles a broad range of tasks for the TFS Area, and what is
remarkable is her diligence and efficiency in accomplishing them. She generally ensures that the area runs smoothly,
taking the initiative when necessary to see that this is so. In fact we need to be careful to tell Rosalie when we do not
want something to be done yet, lest she take the initiative and get it done."

Rosalie and Dr. Beaman
|
|
Dr. Matthew Hall has worked with Rosalie for several years. "She is the first Administrative Assistant I have ever come
across who actually announces that she wants us to find more work for her to do. I often see Rosalie staying late to finish
her work. She really knows how to get things done and does them quickly and accurately. Not only does she know how to
get things done, she seems to know how to handle every situation; this is quite amazing considering how complicated some
appointments are, and given the UT bureaucratic indiosyncrasies."
|
|
In 2007 Rosalie moved from the TFS Area to become the Research Administrative Associate to the
Advanced Manufacturing Center and the
Laboratory for Freeform Fabrication here at the University of Texas at Austin. She also continues to assist
Dr. Bourell with various administrative activities related to the annual SFF symposium.
