The Policy Committee sets policy and oversees the Staff Rewards and Recognition program process. Comprised of 5 staff volunteers who are in good standing and meet the criteria for Award Nominees (Department Chair and Executive Assistant have final approval of Committee members). The Policy Committee is also responsible for communicating the rules and procedures to the members of the Judging Committee.

Term Duration:   Indefinite or as the Department Chair and Executive Assistant deem necessary.

Chairperson:   Elected by and within the committee (10/99: Danny Jares). The Chair person calls all meetings, delegates tasks among the Committee members, and invites other attendees where necessary (such as the Executive Assistant or Department Chair). Policy committee chair person term duration will be specified as "Continuous with steering committee reconfirmation by majority vote on an annual basis, prior to Fall Award".

Membership replacement:   In the event of a vacancy on the Committee, the Chairperson or Department Executive Assistant will call for volunteers.

Meetings:   The Committee will meet at least three times each award period. The first meeting will be to discuss and prepare for the nomination period and award process. The second meeting will be held with the Judging Committee to review all the rules and procedures, answer any questions, and set the time frame for awards nominations and ceremony. The third meeting should be held within a week after the award ceremony for the purpose of evaluation of the process. All meetings will be called by the Committee Chair. Electronic media such as e-mail will be used wherever possible/appropriate to expedite the meeting process.

Current Members (as of Fall 2004): Don Artieschoufsky, Danielle Fournier, Danny Jares (Chair), Kathryn Samec, and Diana Ziegler.
