Alexandre K. da Silva

Dr. da Silva earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Duke University in 2005. He began teaching mechanical engineering in August 2005 as an assistant professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa before joining the faculty of The University of Texas at Austin in September 2007.

da Silva’s research addresses the thermodynamics of complex thermal-fluid devices with maximum performance (e.g., heat exchangers). He is currently interested in the fundamental development of complexity in bio-inspired multi-scale transport phenomena systems and the theoretical and experimental investigation of such systems applied to real engineering problems.

Research interests:

  • Multi-scale heat and fluid flow
  • Energy efficiency
  • Renewable energy
  • Complex thermal systems

OPENINGS:

Dr. da Silva’s group is accepting applications from students (undergrad, MS and PhD) and post-docs. For more information contact Dr. da Silva at: akds@me.utexas.edu. Please provide CV (Grad students and post-docs should indicate at least three references).
