  1. Apply Texas application
  2.
  3. Statement of Purpose (A sub-section of the ApplyTexas Application above)
  4.
  5. Letters of recommendation: two options
    • Online recommendation. This option is part of the ApplyTexas application system (see link above) and allows you to enter the names and e-mail address of your recommenders. GIAC will generate an e-mail directly to your recommenders with a link that will allow them to complete their recommendation letter online. Your recommender does have the option to write a letter and upload it into the system instead of completing the form online. The ME/ORIE department highly prefers that you submit your letters of recommendation through GIAC and not through the department.
    • If you are not able to use the online letter of recommendation system, you may have your recommenders write a letter of recommendation, save it in PDF file format and e-mail it directly to the ME/ORIE Graduate Admissions coordinator Prabhu Khalsa. Please title your recommendation letters: Last Name, First Name (EID) LOR Dr. Recommender's Last Name.pdf
Letters e-mailed directly to the department will not show up on your online status report. We will send an e-mail confirmation directly to the recommender. Please do not send hard-copy letters of recommendations either in your admissions packet to GIAC or directly to the department. These letters often take months to be processed and will not show up in your status report.
  6. Transcripts: Official transcripts are required of all previous academic work (Photocopies are not accepted).
  7. GIAC Address (for all materials not sent electronically such as transcripts)

    • Mailing Address:
    • Graduate and International Admissions Center
    • The University of Texas at Austin
    • P.O. Box 7608
    • Austin, TX 78713-7608

Street Address (for overnight letters or package delivery):

    • Graduate and International Admissions Center
    • The University of Texas at Austin
    • 2608 Whitis Ave.
    • Austin, TX 78712

  8. GIAC Status check:
The following link allows you to regularly check the status of documents submitted to GIAC. Please keep in mind that from December-February, GIAC is receiving literally hundreds of thousands of application documents. At the peak of the admissions season it often four to six weeks for transcripts to be scanned and posted to your status report
  9.
