Application Servers
One of the newest services that the Mechanical Engineering Department now offers is a way to access programs from your own computer at home, at work, or at school.
The Application Servers will allow 60 simultanous sessions. This means that 60 users can be logged on at one time each running only one application. This would also mean that 30 users can be logged on at one time each running only two applications. As you can see, this makes it a limited, shared resource. Please limit your use accordingly in order to share this resource with as many users as possible.
To access any of these programs from home, simply download or print the instructions for your platform (Windows, Mac or Linux) from the links below. Mac and Linux instructions are being updated and are forthcoming. More programs are being added every semester. Please see the current list of programs on the Application Servers.
Optimizing Citrix For Good Wireless Connection
For good wireless connection to the Application Servers, please make the following changes to the Settings in your Application Set:
In the Citrix Program Neighborhood window click on Settings in the tool bar.
On the Connection tab: Check Always use Server Location network protocol.
On the Default Options tab be sure to put a check mark next to the following:
- Use data compression
- Use disk cache for bitmaps
- Queue mouse movement and keystrokes
- Enable session reliability
Still on the Default Options tab: Set Encryption level: to 40 bit
Set Speed Screen Latency Reduction to Auto and put a check mark next to:
- Mouse Click Feedback
- Local Text Echo
Leave the rest of the settings as default.
