METER Help


The ME Computer Help Desk provides many services for all faculty and staff members in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The Help Desk, located in ETC 3.130, is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Please feel free to come by our office or call us for more information at 471-5951.

Our Help Desk consists of seven students proficient in Macintosh, Windows and Linux operating systems, designed to help faculty, staff and students with various computer related problems, including (but not limited to) the following:
  • Computer hardware and software problems
  • New Accounts/Account errors in the METER
  • Multimedia equipment check-out (digital cameras, laptops, projectors, etc.)
  • Printer/Printing problems
  • Application server help
You can help the Mechanical Engineering Department keep up with Equipment Inventory and Surplus Equipment by contacting Fred Rothhauser. If you purchase new equipment or wish to transfer / surplus old equipment, please contact Fred. He will need to know the Make and Model of the Equipment, the UT Inventory Number, where it is located, and your contact information.

Users who need help with the HPC lab can contact the Linux System administrators directly.

The University offers many classes and tutorials on a variety of topics. Many of these are free or substantially discounted for Students, Staff, and Faculty.
