Computer Lab Usage Policy

General Lab Rules

  • The METER is reserved for Mechanical Engineering students; therefore anyone working on ME projects has priority on these computers. At times, this lab will be filled to capacity and there will not be enough computers for everyone. If you are not working on an ME related project or assignment, please be courteous to those who are.
  • Please leave food and drinks outside the lab. Spilled drinks and food crumbs can ruin the computer hardware. Spill proof drink containers that allow sipping without removing the lid are allowed.
  • Locking computers is not allowed; therefore this feature has been disabled.
  • Please keep the lab clean (e.g. Refrain from touching the monitor screens and leaving papers everywhere).

  • Lab Users are not allowed to use the telephone without permission. They must first request permission from the Lab Proctor on duty.
  • Lab Users may not view, print, or use as a desktop background or screen saver any sexually explicit material, including pictures of people in bathing suits. Such activities qualify as "sexual misconduct" because it makes other users in the lab uncomfortable.
  • Lab Users may not use Peer-to-peer applications, such as BearShare, Warez, Morpheus, BitTorrent, iMesh and KaZaA, to download or upload copyrighted material. Disproportionate bandwidth usage and copyright infringement are violations of the University's policies.
