Dr. Janet Ellzey Discusses International Engineering Education Program in PRISM Magazine

AUSTIN, TEXAS — September 19, 2007

Janet Ellzey, Professor in Mechanical Engineering and director of the Cockrell School of Engineering's International Engineering Education program, talks about the growing number of engineering students deciding to study abroad in the Summer 2007 issue of PRISM magazine.

"Historically, engineering students have not studied abroad in large numbers due to the lack of elective courses and the absence of an educational culture that emphasizes the importance of international experience."

PRISM is the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE)'s award winning flagship publication and the most popular magazine that covers engineering higher education in the United States.

Dr. Ellzey is a Professor in the Thermal/Fluids Systems Area of the Department, as well Associate Director of the Chair of Free Enterprise, and Associate Chair for International Engineering Programs for the Cockrell School of Engineering.
