AUSTIN, TEXAS—July 24, 2008

The Secretary of the U.S. Army has appointed Prof. Delbert Tesar to a three-year term as a Member of its senior scientific advisory body which advises the Army on scientific and technological matters. The ASB is comprised of distinguished individuals from the private sector, academia, retired flag officer ranks, and non-DoD government agencies. The Board conducts multiple level meetings to enable members to review Army science development, become better educated on Army issues, and to provide advice to Army managers. Typically, one or two summer studies are conducted each year which are briefed to the Secretary of the Army and the Army Chief of Staff. The Board also conducts Ad Hoc studies, Issue Group studies and Independent Assessments, which are shorter and focus on a smaller range of issues.

Dr. Tesar has graduated 60 Ph.D. students and 150 M.Sc students, primarily in the field of robotics and intelligent machines.
