Professor Rodney S. Ruoff was recently selected as a Fellow of the Materials Research Society (MRS). Ruoff was recently honored at the 2013 Spring Meeting of the MRS held in San Francisco April 1-5, and announced on the MRS web site and in the MRS Bulletin. The citation for his selection reads:

Dr. Rodney Ruoff holds the Cockrell Family Regents Chair VII and has been with the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Materials Science and Engineering program since 2007. He has authored or coauthored 347 peer-reviewed publications. Please see his faculty bio and his research group web site for more information on his research. In addition to being an MRS Fellow, he is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Dr. Orlando Auciello, President of the president of MRS writes: "The title of MRS Fellow honors those MRS members who are notable for their distinguished research accomplishments and their outstanding contributions to the advancement of materials research, world-wide. The maximum number of new Fellow appointments each year is limited to 0.2% of the current MRS membership. The distinction is thus highly selective. We are fortunate to have received a large number of excellent nominations. This made the work of the selection committee extraordinarily demanding, but reflects very positively on the Fellow program, as well as on MRS."

Dr. Ruoff attended the 2013 MRS Spring Meeting and presented two invited talks, and he also attended the President's Reception on Monday, April 1, and a special reception on Tuesday, April 2, during which the 2013 MRS Fellows were recognized and honored, as well as an Awards Session on Wednesday, April 3, at which they were again recognized.
