Biomechanics is the application of fundamental mechanical engineering principles to biological systems.

The Biomechanical and Biomedicine Engineering area in the Department of Mechanical Engineering focuses on a wide range of areas from cardiovascular biomechanics and the analysis of human movement to laser assisted biophotonics and tissue engineering. Our areas of excellence include bioheat transfer, biooptics, novel drug delivery, cancer engineering, experimentation, modeling and simulation, medical devices, biomaterials, and prosthetic and exoskeleton devices.
