MSE/MBA JOINT DEGREE

Contents

Introduction

The Joint MSE/MBA Program provides an opportunity to earn two degrees simultaneously: a Master of Science in Engineering and a Master of Business Administration.

This program is a well-rounded education for professional managers of manufacturing technology. For the manufacturing engineer, it is an opportunity to understand labor and management issues in the design of the manufacturing complex. For the manufacturing manager, it is an opportunity to develop an appreciation of world-class manufacturing technology.

A student in the Joint MSE/MBA Program must complete a minimum of 72 semester hours. Areas of specialization include design for manufacturing, manufacturing automation and assembly, electronic packaging manufacturing, integrated circuit manufacturing, and advanced materials manufacturing.

Students seeking admission must apply to both the University's Office of Admissions and to the Graduate School of Business, and be accepted by both the College of Engineering Manufacturing Systems Engineering Program and the Graduate School of Business before being accepted into the Joint MSE/MBA Program. Students can be admitted for either Fall or Spring semesters.

Advising will be handled by the Graduate Advisor for the Joint MSE/MBA Program. The Graduate Advisor will act as liaison between the two colleges in helping the student satisfy the requirements of the two programs.

Admission

The Graduate Admissions Office and the Graduate School of Business each require separate applications for admission. The major code to be listed on the applications for the MSE/MBA joint program is 663100. Each application and all required materials must be received by each admissions office by the deadlines stated on the individual applications. Generally, the deadline in the College of Engineering is February 1 for the fall semester and October 1 for the spring semester. For full consideration for fellowships for fall semester admissions, applications should be submitted by January 1. GRE and GMAT examination scores, official transcripts from each university attended, letters of recommendation, and departmental application forms are required.

Applicable items for admission to the MSE are listed in the Manufacturing Systems Engineering brochure and in the Graduate School of Business brochure for the MBA.

Upon entering graduate school, the Master of Science in Engineering degree candidate selects one of three options. All students seeking the master's degree are expected to write a thesis; however, the option of a master's degree with a report and the no thesis/no report option are also available by petition.
