Noise Detection

Like other types of detectors, noise fire detectors take advantage of environment changes occurring during fires. A fire produces characteristic noise depending on the fuel. A well-known characteristics is the cracking noise when a wood fire is burning. Such typical bands and sequences of acoustic waves can be analyzed by analog systems. It is obvious that this technology can be employed only for solid fires. The system designer has to knowledgeable about the acoustic characteristics of the expected fire beforehand. A plastics fire will emit different signals than a wood fire.
