Noise Detection
Like other types of detectors, noise fire detectors take advantage
of environment changes occurring during fires. A fire produces characteristic
noise depending on the fuel. A well-known characteristics is the
cracking noise when a wood fire is burning. Such typical bands and
sequences of acoustic waves can be analyzed by analog systems. It
is obvious that this technology can be employed only for solid fires.
The system designer has to knowledgeable about the acoustic characteristics
of the expected fire beforehand. A plastics fire will emit different
signals than a wood fire.
The technology is very new and depends strongly on the capabilities
of the used system. The advances in this technology can be found
