Tactical PPV
PPV performed properly, where all company actions are coordinated and support each other, has been found to relieve conditions for firefighters and victims, improve visibility, remove smoke and dangerous gases quickly and effectively reduce temperatures within the structure.
Coordinated, purposeful PPV will make the fireground safer. Uncoordinated PPV or PPV misapplied by improperly training Firefighters can be dangerous!
An analysis of the last 7 years of NIOSH Firefighter fatality reports show that in every fatality where fire behavior was a causal factor in the Firefighter death, ventilation was not performed or performed incorrectly. Historically, we know this to be the case in several AFD close calls.
If smoke is the primary hazard, the coordination of ventilation activities should becomes the context for all fireground tactical activities.
This class is delivered using a new product that allows sceen capture and voice over of Power Point. Unfortunately, some of the bugs aren't worked out yet. At times on slower computers with slow connection speeds, the video for this class may become slightly "unsynchronized" with the audio.
This class is presented in 6 separate videos. This was done instead of one large video to solve some of the technical issues with the new delivery product referenced above. If you wish, this class could be conducted in two sessions:
• Parts 1-3 should be viewed together (total time 44 minutes)
• Part 4-6 should be viewed together (total time 45 mins)
