You are cordially invited to the second general meeting of the Austin Chapter of INFORMS. This last May, we held our first business meeting and had an opportunity to get to know each other better. The purpose of this upcoming July meeting is again to provide Austin's OR/MS professionals and students with the opportunity to join this chapter and get to know other OR/MS professionals. This month, we will also hear from one of our member, Dr. David Morton, Assistant Professor in the Graduate Program in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering at UT-Austin. He received a Ph.D. in Operations Research from Stanford University and his research interests include computational stochastic optimization.
Speaker: Dr. David Morton, Assistant Professor in the Graduate Program in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering at UT-Austin
Title: An Overview of Research in OR at UT-Austin
Abstract: I plan to give a brief overview of some of the research activities in operations research at UT. This will include work in the OR/IE program and the MSIS Department as well as research in Civil Engineering (Transportation, Water Resources, and Construction Industry) and research in Electrical Engineering (Energy Systems and Telecommunications). It isn't my purpose to attempt to give a thorough overview, and the talk is sure to reflect my own biases.
After 4:00pm is free and available in front of the building.
Following our general meeting we invite everyone to join us for dinner. There are a number of possibilities ranging from our local pub, The Posse East, or our local pizza parlour, Double Dave.
