Energy and Environment Thermal Management Electronics and Photonics Biomedical Technologies
Our research aims to provide technological solutions to contemporary worldwide problems in energy and environment, health care, and security. Technology breakthroughs in these areas will be enabled by the discovery of new materials with properties that are superior to the state of the art. A central approach in our research is to manipulate and enhance materials properties at the level of electrons, phonons, photons, or molecules by engineering nanostructured materials. We further explore scalable nanomaterials with enhanced properties for device and system- level applications including thermoelectric energy harvesting and refrigeration, catalytic conversion, sensing, biomedical imaging and therapeutics. Current research projects undertaken by our group are organized in four thrust areas focused on Energy and Environment, Thermal Management, Electronics and Photonics, and Biomedical Technologies.
