Text:Fundamentals of Machine Component Design, Second Edition by Robert C. Juvinall and 

     Kurt M. Marshek, John Wiley & Sons, 1991



Homework:Assigned in class.  Due one week following assignment.  Late homework does not 

         exist and will not be accepted.  Students may discuss homework, but all written 

         work must be prepared independently.



Quizzes:Quizzes on Wednesday, February 23, and Wednesday, April 6, and a final quiz on 

        Saturday, May 14, from 9 am-12.  No missed quizzes except with a doctor's note.  

        No makeup quiz.  Your grade for a missed quiz will be calculated by averaging your 

        final exam grade and the grade on the quiz you took. Quizzes are open book.  All 

        grades curved by setting highest grade to 100.

Grade:	Quiz 1 + Quiz 2 + 2.0 X Final + Homework = Grade



Coaching: Assistance with homework available during office hours and via telephone 

          consultation.



Misc:	Prerequisites are required and strictly enforced: Engineering Mechanics 319 or319S, 

        Mathematics 427K, and Mechanical Engineering 335; and credit or registration for 

        Mechanical Engineering 319 and 336 and admission to major 	sequence or consent 

        of instructor.
