Rapid Prototyping  
 

 

While the three-dimensional solid model facilitates visualization of design ideas and its geometric details, the digital data base associated with the solid model offers more opportunities in the design process. One opportunity is to create a special file that can be used to create a rapid physical prototype of the solid model. The digital file, called .STL for stereolithography, can then be imported into a variety of different machines to produce the rapid prototype. Click the links below for some examples.
