Have you ever wanted to control your own humanoid robot? On Tuesday, Oct. 6, you’ll get your chance!
Join Cockrell School of Engineering assistant professor Luis Sentis and his team from the Human-Centered Robotics Lab as they launch and demonstrate a first-of-its-kind technology that makes Dreamer, UT Austin’s popular and lovable robot, accessible to anyone with a smart phone.
Come test drive Dreamer with your phone or tablet and see the researchers’ new remote operating system that allows people all over the world to analyze and manipulate the robot from their mobile devices and computers.
Through the touch of a few clear buttons, the new web-accessible and user-friendly system called CARL (Cloud-based Advanced Robotics Laboratory) lets users control Dreamer’s arm and hand motions, eliminating the need for coding know-how or proximity to play in the global robotics lab!
Event is free and open to the public with a Q&A to follow.
