Mechanical Engineering Associate Academic Advisor Ashlee Vrana and Technical Staff Assistant Mark Phillips were honored last month with departmental staff excellence awards for their exemplary service and commitment.

Ashlee began working in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the autumn of 2012 and is essential to coordinating the “Promoting Aid to Student Success” program as well as summer orientation sessions. Mechanical Engineering Academic Advising Manager Terrie Chandler nominated her for the award. “She is an outstanding advisor full of energy, commitment, and flexibility for our students,” said Chandler.

Mark has been vital to the department for a decade, in part supporting instrumentation and electro-mechanical equipment servicing. Professor David Bourell nominated him for the award, noting his “technical ability to walk up to any machine that is not performing acceptably, to diagnose what the issue is, to research various alternative solutions and to make recommendations of solutions with cost included.”

“We’re pleased to recognize Ashlee and Mark, two outstanding members of our team who have significantly impacted the department,” said Mechanical Engineering Chair Rick Neptune.
