Professor Dave Bogard with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, former student Dr. Todd Davidson, cofounder of nCarbon, Inc., and former graduate student David Kistenmacher, now with Chevron, received an award for one of the Best Paper's by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) International Gas Turbine Institute Heat Transfer Committee.

The title of the paper was: "A Study on Deposition on a Turbine Vane with a Thermal Barrier Coating and Various Film Cooling Geometries." It was presented by Todd Davidson at the ASME Turbo Expo conference in Copenhagen, Denmark in June 2012 and awarded the honor in June 2013.

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers International Gas Turbine Institute's Turbo Expo Technical Conference is long recognized as the world's leading conference on all aspects of gas turbine technology, it now includes related topics in wind, steam, fans & blowers and solar energy.

Each year the Technical Committees have an opportunity to select a paper published at ASME TURBO EXPO to receive their Committee's Best Paper or Best Tutorial Award. This is an opportunity to recognize outstanding technical papers, to acknowledge the author's contributions to the gas turbine industry, and to support and maintain the high quality of papers presented by each Committee.
