The Department of Mechanical Engineering hosted an informal birthday party for Professor John B. Goodenough to celebrate his 90th birthday on Wednesday, July 26. The event was attended by faculty and staff, as well as past and present post-docs and graduate students he has advised. Always laughing and a good sport, Goodenough had fun with the birthday candles that wouldn't stay blown out, and offered his thoughts on to live a long, happy and productive life. He told everyone the secrets to longevity are to "to love your family and friends, treat them well, and enjoy your work." He enthusiastically celebrated with coworkers and especially enjoyed seeing all his post-docs and their families. Happy Birthday, Dr. Goodenough!
