Bio
Dr. Matthew Meier is an Assistant Professor in the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. His research seeks to advance the performance and reliability of gas turbine engines used in aerospace propulsion and power generation. Through a combination of experimental measurements and computational modeling, his group studies the complex aerodynamics and heat transfer processes that govern turbomachinery performance and inform next-generation engine design. Before joining UT Austin, Dr. Meier was an Assistant Research Professor at Penn State University, and he has four years of industry experience in aviation propulsion and power generation. His teaching has been recognized through Purdue University's Estus H. and Vashti L. Magoon Award for Excellence in Teaching. He earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University Northwest.
