The Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering is committed to enhancing the undergraduate experience for our students. The Excellence in Undergraduate Education Initiative seeks to increase research stipends, upgrade facilities and expand project-centered education.

Project-Centered Education in Mechanical Engineering (PROCEED) is a department-wide curriculum reform effort initiated in 2000 with the objective of more closely tying all elements of the mechanical engineering undergraduate experience to real-world engineering. The department seeks to establish endowments that supports initiatives including scholarships for deserving students, student team competitions, student projects, undergraduate research, technology enhancements, renovation of labs and classrooms and curriculum innovations like PROCEED.
