Nano- and Micro-Scale Engineering research in the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering excels in the areas of nanomanufacturing, nanoscale materials and materials synthesis, nanophothonics, micro/nanoscale thermal and fluid transport, and micro/nanoelectromechanical systems (M/NEMS).
These research efforts are highly interdisciplinary with faculty involvement from the Dynamic Systems and Controls, Manufacturing and Design, Materials Science, and Thermal/Fluids Systems areas of study. As a result, research in Nano-and Micro-Scale Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin has had a significant impact on a number of technologies in the areas of energy, manufacturing, information technology, medicine and life sciences.
